Slim The Mobster




Anthony Johnson better known by his stage name Slim The Mobster is a Los Angeles-based rapper currently signed to Gang Module Records and Aftermath Entertainment. He is currently working on Dr. Dre's third studio album Detox. Slim The Mobster is known as Dr. Dre's new protegé. He is currently also working on his debut Aftermath Entertainment studio album. Johnson's manager is John Monopoly, who ushered in Kanye West's rapping career. His influence includes gangsta rap acts like The D.O.C and The Notorious B.I.G. He took his rap name from notorious pimp Fillmore Slim and from being in the trap having the mindset of a Mobster.

Slim The Mobster grew up all over from Loudonville,NY and Corpus Christi, Texas. In February 2008 he was featured on a Hussein Fatal mixtape. He solicited demos to Dr. Dre in 2008 and eventually got a record deal with Aftermath Entertainment.

Detox is set to solidify Slims career as The Chronic did with Snoop Dogg and 2001 did with Eminem. As of Late 2010 he is focused on getting Dr. Dre's Detox which he is heavily featured on finished. He has been doing some writing for Detox. Slim announced in December 2010 he will release a new freestyle every Friday in a program titled "Freestyle Fridays" with the first being his freestyle to "Kush".
According to Slim Detox and his debut album will have similar elements but totally different feels to them. He stated that Dr. Dre will be featured on it and will "feel like an N.W.A album.

War Music is a street album by Slim The Mobster through Gang Module and Aftermath Entertainment powered by Crooks & Castles, and is set to be released on November 8th, 2011. The street album features productions from Jake One, Nottz, and Siege Monstracity, and is executive produced by Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg and Sha Money XL.

“Gun Play”, the first music video from War Music, was released on Wednesday, September 6, 2011. It also gained him more notoriety as the video was passed all around twitter because Slim looks strikingly similar to twitter personality @OfficiallyIce. It was followed by “Fuck You”, which was released on September 14, 2011. A video titled "Who Is Slim The Mobster" was released on October 10th showcasing the artist.

He claimed to have been "stabbed, shot, robbed, kidnapped and was a member of the Crips" during his life on the streets. His uncle is famed former drug kingpin Freeway Ricky Ross
